Sean Smith and Colin McKenna Memorial Scholarships
AMBA is proud to offer two scholarships, awarded yearly, to one female and one male who have contributed to the growth of AMBA in the community.
The Sean Smith Memorial Scholarship is valued at $500 and presented to the winning male athlete. Sean is remembered for his love of sports, joy of playing, his team spirit and sportsmanship.
The Colin McKenna Memorial Scholarship is valued at $500 and is presented to the winning female athlete. Colin is remembered for his generous spirit, love and dedication to basketball within our community.
The 2018 scholarship applications have been reviewed. This year, only female athletes have applied for the scholarships; therefore, the Scholarship Selection Committee have selected two female winners.
The Sean Smith Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Madi Woolf. Madi played with AMBA from the time she was a Mini all the way through to her final Juvy year. She has always been a compassionate and caring team player and could often be found assisting younger players during practice and games. Madi will be attending SAIT in the fall where she will pursue her Architectural Technologies certification.
The Colin McKenna Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Emma McNeil. Emma has played with AMBA from Bantam until her final Juvy year. Emma is also a referee and mentor for AMBAs referee program and volunteers throughout the season. This spring she is assistant coaching for the AMBA Midget Girls. Emma is attending St. Mary's University in the fall where she will pursue a double-degree in History and Education with aspirations of being a Social Studies teacher.
