Born 2012 – 2013 · Ages 13–14

Our U15 program is designed for players who want to elevate their game to a higher level of skill and competition. Athletes will refine advanced techniques in shooting, ball-handling, passing, and defense, while developing a deeper understanding of team strategies and game tactics.

The focus is on challenging players to compete at a faster pace, think critically on the court, and strengthen leadership and teamwork skills. U15 is a crucial step in preparing athletes for elite play — helping them transition from foundational skills to a more competitive basketball environment.

Birth Years	2012–2013 born players are eligible for the 2026–2027 season. Per CMBA Rules (Section 4.5), players must not be older than 15 as of December 31 of the current year.

Alberta Basketball & Canada Basketball Membership

AMBA is a member of Alberta Basketball and Canada Basketball Associations. A combined membership fee of $27.00 will be collected at registration, covering provincial and national association fees including liability insurance.

U15 Specific Information

🌙 Friday Night Games

For the 2026–2027 season, CMBA has advised that Friday night games may occur occasionally due to gym availability in Calgary. Please plan accordingly and check the schedule regularly.

🎓 Grade 9 Consideration

This applies primarily to players in the Rocky View School Division or Chinooks Edge School Division, where Grade 9 is part of high school. Schools within the City of Airdrie keep Grade 9 in middle school, so this does not apply to most Airdrie players.

Where applicable, Grade 9 players who make their high school team may continue playing with AMBA. ASAA allows participation in both community and JV programs (but not SV) — check with your school for details.

Players in this situation should carefully consider their time commitment. If leaving AMBA due to high school commitments, refunds are not provided. If a team folds due to departures, remaining players receive a pro-rated refund per AMBA’s Refund Policy.

How Teams Are Built

Team Formation & Evaluations

Teams are created based on player skill and evaluation results. The AMBA Team Formation Committee places players where they can learn, grow, and get maximum court time. Requests for specific teams or teammates are not accepted. Teams are grouped by similar skill to ensure a fun and competitive season.

Specific team or teammate requests are not accepted. Placement is based solely on skill to ensure balanced, competitive teams.

Separate male and female teams compete in their respective CMBA divisions throughout the season.

Game Day

Games

U15 games are played in Calgary through CMBA and can be in any quadrant of the city. Games are scheduled by CMBA, not AMBA. Important dates are listed on the Season and Program Information page.

📅 Schedule

Bi-weekly Saturdays with 2 games per game day. Occasional Friday night games may be added by CMBA.

📍 Locations

Games can be in any quadrant of Calgary. AMBA does not control game locations — these are set entirely by CMBA.

Full competitive format. U15 plays under standard competitive rules emphasising game awareness and advanced team play.

Practices

Practices are held primarily in Airdrie, with occasional locations in Crossfield or Balzac when gym space requires it. Days and times depend on coach and school availability and may change each season. Practice nights are kept as consistent as possible — check the weekly schedule regularly for any updates.
